MESSAGE TO THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BULLETIN AND TO THE PEOPLE OF MANGALDAN We should never forget to give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever (Jeremiah 33:11). There are many good reasons why weshould keep thanking the Lord… For one, we thank Him for sparing us the wrath of typhoon “Emong.” Second, we were triumphant in the recently concluded Search for the Cleanest River and Riverbank, where we were adjudged champion in the municipal categor We brought home the grand prize of Php100,000.00, a nice trophy and a project worth Php 1 Million Pesos. We intend to use thePhp 1M for the rip rapping of San Jose (formerly Visperas Street) at the back of Mangaldan Central School. Third, our young people continue to gain national recognition in various fields. Sushen Jimbel Mariz M. Sison is the national champion in the search for Kabataang Bayani ng Kalikasan during the 7th Youth for Environment Summer (YES) Camp held in Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City. Our Taekwondo players from Santo Tomas Catholic School kicked well and brought home medals from the 2009 Palarong Pambansa held in Tacloban City. In the 1st National Table Tennis Cup for DepEd Coaches and Officiating Officials, our very own advocates, teacher coaches, Estela Tirante and Milagros Parayno won the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Our young pupils from Talogtog-Bateng Elementary School were 2nd Placer in the 1st Dance Fest sponsored by the Municipality of San Fabian. Let us also be proud of Christine Joy Prestoza, an honor graduate of Mangaldan National High School for qualifying in the “One Town, One Scholar” Scholarship Program by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). We were full of pride to accompany her in Malacañang Palace where she personally received her scholarship certificate from Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Fourth, lo and behold our picturesque public plaza. We continue to beautify it as it becomes a favorite vista of our balikbayans and kabaleyans. It is bunching up praises from visitors and even from municipal officials from other municipalities. Fifth, we thank God for continuously providing us noble projects such as the construction of the 2nd floor of the RHU II Building in Bantayan. The good Congressman JDV is up on building covered courts in various barangays. Sixth, on our end, we recently inaugurated two (2) covered courts / multi-purpose halls, that in Pogo-Palua Elementary School (funded by the Mangaldan Association of New York-New Jersey and the Eastern Region and our Municipal LSB Fund) and in Inlambo Elementary School). The counting never stops. More regravelling of farm-to-market road projects and many more projects are coming forth very soon. And if there’s one special project I am very proud of, it is the drafting of the Citizen’s Charter in the municipality that will ensure that the needs of our kabaleyans are properly and immediately addressed by our employees. In fact, the installation of the new bundy clock for our employees will assure our people and visitors that we start our public service on time. We are so blessed, hence we also share our blessings. We have donated medicines to the Free Medical and Dental Missions being conducted by Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias Agabas in different municipalities of the province. It’s our way of thanking the Lord…We thank Him, too for giving us grateful hearts… (SGD) HON. MAYOR HERMINIO A. ROMERO |
