PHYSICAL PROFILE
The municipality of Mangaldan is situated on a plain terrain on the northern part of eastern Pangasinan, more or less five (5) kilometers inland from the historical Lingayen Gulf. The map of the Philippines determined its geographical location somewhere at latitude 16 ْ 01’39” to 16 ْ 06’19” North and at longitude 120 ْ 21’35” to 120 ْ 26’48” East. It is bounded by the following municipalities
Generally, the entire town of Mangaldan is flat and leveled with 0.3% slope. This is within slope category “A” which is useful for paddy rice culture. The most important mineral resource are sand, gravel and salt. The areas comprising the beds of Angalacan and Abeloleng Rivers are inexhaustible sources of sand and gravel while the marches along the Paldaquit and Manguiraday Rivers are rich sources of salt. In, 2006, the average temperature was 27.65ْ C. which is moderately hot. The coldest temperature recorded was during the month of January which s at 25.9 ْC and the highest was felt during the month of April at 29.4 ْ C. Rainfall is les evenly distributed with maximum rainfall occurring from June to September. The annual rainfall has peak of 792.7 mm in July and a low of 013.3 mm in December. No rain occurred during the month of February. The total number of rainy days is 143 with the average rainy days of eleven (11) days a month, yielding an average precipitation of 192 mm. It was observed that July has the most number of rainy days totaling to twenty-eight (28) days. Average relative humidity was 82.17 percent, the lowest at 77 percent and highest was at 89 percent. It is in the month of April that the humidity was recorded. Humidity was highest during the rainy months of July and August. |

Rice is the most important crop raised in the municipality followed by vegetables, corn and root crops. The average annual yield in rice in tons per hectare in irrigated land is 5.0 tons while in rainfed is 4.0 tons. Irrigated ricelands yield 100 cavans/hectare. The 3,850 square meters Class abattoir could accommodate a large number of animals for slaughter. In 2007, the volume of animals being slaughtered in this facility ranges from 175-200 hogs and 20-30 large cattle daily. The existing abattoir which with accreditation by the National Meat Inspection Service puts Mangaldan in the map in Region I. The presence of this class abattoir plays a significant role in the fast growth of meat industry not only in this town, but also in extending its delivery services to neighboring towns like Calasiao, Dagupan City, Mapandan, Manaoag, Pozorrubio and even as far as Baguio City and La Union. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
